The Madrid EDITION’s journey toward increasingly sustainable and efficient management

September 02, 2026

We are pleased to share a new milestone in The Madrid EDITION’s journey toward increasingly sustainable and efficient management.

After achieving the highest score recorded in Spain for a hotel building under BREEAM In-Use Part 1—scoring 80.02% and an “Excellent” rating—the hotel has now completed BREEAM In-Use Part 2 certification. It once again achieved an “Excellent” rating with a score of 76.63%, the highest recorded to date in Spain for this category.

This second recognition marks a particularly significant step, as it focuses on how the building is managed during daily operations. While Part 1 evaluates the asset’s own characteristics and performance, Part 2 analyzes the management practices implemented to reduce its impact and continuously improve its performance.

Key measures implemented at The Madrid EDITION include optimizing energy and water consumption through monitoring and action plans, incorporating smart control technologies, and rolling out plans to enhance the building’s environmental and social integration—as well as that of its supply chain.

This new milestone builds on a journey that began with the hotel’s initial design—which already holds LEED Gold certification—and subsequently extended to evaluating its performance and management through BREEAM In-Use Parts 1 and 2. This approach allows the project’s sustainability goals to be translated into the reality of daily operations.
